Buffalo Hop's August 30th Workshop Details

One of Buffalo's nearby Canadian Neighbors is Waterloo, ON. Waterloo has a great Lindy Hop scene lead in part by David Trinh. I met David in Hawaii during the Hawaii Lindy Balboa Exchange a few years ago. At the time, I was living in Santa Fe, NM. After I moved to Buffalo in 2007, I attended the Albany Chill Exchange in the Fall where I bumped into David again. I told him that I was now living in the area and inquired about his scene in Waterloo. David and I agreed that we should hook our respective scenes up once Buffalo had established a Lindy Hop presence of its own. A few weeks ago, I invited David and his dance troupe to come out and possibly perform at the last monthly Buffalo Hop dance of the summer. Since then, the idea has snowballed to bring you this mini-workshop. It promises to be a ton of fun. We will have 3 hours of Lindy Hop instruction and 3 tracks: Beginner (no experience), Beginner-Intermediate (some experience), and Intermediate (Regular "Lindy Hopper"). We will be learning a routine which the Waterloo Troupe is currently working on and in fact, one which is learned by Lindy Hoppers all over the world: the California Routine. Youtube ti and you'll see there's lots of groups who know it. We'll be learning it at two different levels and getting together to put it together. This of course will take more time than we have to offer at the dance, so we've expanded the dance to be a whole-day event starting at 2pm and running late! We have a number of people from outside Buffalo coming, so it promises to be the best Buffalo Hop yet! You do not want to miss this workshop!
