Lindy in the Buff Scholarships

Swing Buffalo strongly believes dancing is for everyone. We strive to support our community and want to specifically gear our efforts towards those who have been historically underrepresented, under-served and at many times blatantly hindered. By doing this, we intend to remove one of the three financial barriers (travel, admission, accommodation) to attending a swing dance event.

Dancers may request scholarships when registering for Lindy in the Buff, and no payment will be required at the time of registration.

We will not be announcing recipients of these scholarships before, during or after the event. Participants are allowed to discuss their participation and awardship at their personal discretion.  We only hope that you will come learn and have fun!

Swing Buffalo is offering two different types of scholarships for Lindy in the Buff:

  • Two full scholarships to dancers who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color). Any Person of Color who is a dancer may apply, regardless of skill or level. Should more than two dancers apply, a lottery will be held to choose the recipients. BIPOC scholarship requests will close March 1, 2025, and recipients will be notified by March 8th.

AND

  • Scholarships to any dancer who requires financial assistance to attend Lindy in the Buff. The number of scholarships awarded will be based on available funds raised through event registrations and donations.
  • Half and full scholarships will be awarded on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis until the close of online registration. Please note you will be contacted by Swing Buffalo regarding the status of your request within a reasonable time after registering (keep in mind that we all have full-time jobs, so it might take us a day or two to let you know).

Unused funds will be allocated towards scholarships for future Swing Buffalo workshops.
